In November 2022, the Plei App officially expanded into our 13th market, Atlanta, Georgia! 🍑 We made our debut at the famous Silverbacks Park and months later we partnered up with StationSoccer. As part of our ongoing blog series, we will be highlighting all of our partner facilities in every region where Plei has touched down. 🛬

Eso es exactamente lo que ocurrió en 2013, cuando Sanjay Patel, ahora Director de Proyectos Estratégicos de Soccer in the Streets, empezó a utilizar el transporte público MARTA. Vio parcelas de terreno sin utilizar en las estaciones de tren y sus alrededores, y se dio cuenta de que se podía hacer algo con esos espacios de césped y aparcamientos vacíos.
Originario de Inglaterra, se inspiró en la forma en que el transporte se ha ido perfeccionando hasta ser multifuncional y fácilmente accesible desde todos los rincones del país, sin importar la edad. De ahí surgió la idea. "¿Por qué no podemos construir minicampos de fútbol en estos trozos de terreno sin utilizar?", pensó. Lo que se le ocurrió fue una "Liga de Estaciones". Para él tenía mucho sentido, y no iba a desaprovechar la ocasión.
Si avanzamos hasta 2023, lo que empezó como una posible propuesta desechable se ha convertido en todo un éxito en Atlanta, aclamado por la crítica. Esta "Liga de Estaciones", conocida oficialmente como StationSoccer, fue aprobada inicialmente por MARTA en 2016.
Soccer in the Streets es una organización sin ánimo de lucro de ámbito nacional que lleva desde 1989 ofreciendo programas de fútbol, educativos y de preparación para la vida a los jóvenes de comunidades con bajos ingresos. StationSoccer es su mayor y más exitoso proyecto hasta la fecha, y no han hecho más que empezar.
Tras asociarse también con la Atlanta United Foundation, dieron vida a StationSoccer, empezando con un campo dentro de Five Points Station, el primero de su clase en el mundo. Fue un éxito inmediato en la ciudad, y poco después siguieron las ampliaciones.
En abril de 2023, habrá un total de cinco (5) sedes de StationSoccer: Five Points, East Point, Kensington, Lindbergh y West End. Otros planes de expansión plantarán campos en las estaciones de tren de HE Holmes, Bankhead, Civic Center, East Lake y Doraville.

Following the late 2022 opening of their fifth location in Kensington, Soccer on the Streets would soon turn their attention to finishing the construction at East Lake. 🚧
Following a couple months of efforts, a special grand opening was celebrated on Friday, October 27. 🥳
At StationSoccer East Lake, you’ll find a total of two (2) fields for 5v5 games, a setup also shared by a number of other StationSoccer fields, including West End, Lindbergh and Kensington. ⚽
Activities that go down at their East Lake facility are as follows:
You can look forward to high-quality artificial turf surfaces, fully equipped with lighting, goals, and benches for players and spectators, creating a sort of experience that can be compared to even professional stadiums. 🏟️
The facility at the East Lake MARTA station is StationSoccer’s sixth location, with four more still pending completion as of early 2024. The end goal is to create a “league of stations”; plans are in place to install fields at Doraville, Bankhead, H.E Holmes and Civic Center in order to complete the League of Stations. 🚄
